Small, lightweight and easy to deploy, the Nortek Aquadopp Profiler is used for direct (real-time) measurements or in recording (autonomous) mode across multiple layers throughout the water column. The choice of frequency (400 kHz, 600 kHz, 1 MHz or 2 MHz) determines the sampling range, with a maximum of 90 m. In addition, with the Aquadopp Z-Cell 1 MHz and Aquadopp Z-Cell 600 kHz, Nortek has effectively eliminated the well-known blanking distance of Doppler profilers.

The systems are equipped with a compass, temperature and pressure sensors, an inclinometer, internal memory and batteries. The standard software also allows data acquisition in burst mode to obtain directional wave information (pUV).
