The MicroCTD by Rockland Scientific is a turbulence and CTD profiler designed for lakes, reservoirs, and estuaries. Its design was developed in consultation with physicists specialising in turbulence measurements in shallow waters influenced by tidal processes. As a result, it features a shorter-than-usual length, which facilitates handling on small vessels such as Zodiacs, while at the same time maximising the profiling range within the water column. The MicroCTD uses the same microstructure sensor suite as the VMP profiler series and additionally includes a standard oceanographic CT reference sensor. The MicroCTD kit includes flotation and a release shackle, allowing profiling operations from the seabed up to the surface.
