Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs)
Underwater vehicles are designed for monitoring, research and defence applications. Once the desired route has been programmed, they propel themselves using motors or through changes in buoyancy (with minimal energy consumption) to carry out sampling autonomously. This category also includes autonomous profiling floats, which perform vertical trajectories to sample a wide range of variables throughout the water column.
